Exploring – Guilin & Yangshuo

4 Sep

In honor of my friend Valerie’s wedding this Labor Day weekend, I have put together a slideshow that looks back at a trip that we took to Guilin and Yangshuo in March/April of 2010.

This slide show captures the first part of our trip in southern China, after which we went north to Beijing.  From our river cruise in Guilin to a cooking class and bicycling through the green hills in Yangshuo it was a wonderful trip with a very good friend.   We may both be considered “foodies” and in keeping with that label sampled Guilin rice noodles at our guide’s favorite local joint, ate and learned how to cook Yangshuo beer fish, bought fresh strawberries on our bicycle ride and had the best mango smoothies ever (that we still talk about a year and a half later) during these few days.

Valerie – I wish both you and Patrick the best on your special day and trust that I will be there in spirit from the other side of the world.  Congratulations!
